I have worked within health and social care for over 25 years and have built a diverse range of experience supporting children, adults, and families across a variety of settings.
I started in studying Health and Social Care before completing my Diploma in Nursery Nursing, providing me with a strong foundation and understanding of child development. Throughout my early career, I worked with children with complex needs, adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, older adults living with dementia, and within home care and residential settings. During this time, I undertook a wide range of training and developed a broad understanding of person-centred care.
I completed an Access to Higher Education course and went on to qualify as a Social Worker in 2019. As part of my training, I completed a placement with adults with learning disabilities, further strengthening my knowledge of safeguarding, assessment, and multi-agency working.
Since qualifying, I have gained experience across several areas of social work, including fostering services, where I have worked with both kinship and mainstream foster carers as a Supervising Social Worker. I have completed Form F assessments and have had opportunities to shadow a variety of specialist roles. Most recently, I have spent the last two years working within the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Team, supporting young people who have experienced significant trauma and displacement. This role has further developed my skills in relationship-based practice, cultural awareness, safeguarding, and collaborative working.
I am now excited to be part of this chapter with Fostering Together as a Supervising Social Worker.
