Introducing the Fostering Together Holiday Lodge 🌊☀️

Submitted by fosteringtogether on 26 May 2026

Today, we’re incredibly proud to finally share one of the biggest projects we’ve ever undertaken for our fostering community — the launch of the Fostering Together Holiday Lodge. Created especially for the children, young people and families within our service, the lodge is a fully adapted and accessible holiday space designed to make family breaks more comfortable, realistic and enjoyable for those caring for children with complex disabilities and additional needs.

Over the past year, this project has gone from an idea around a table to a fully realised space by the sea — somewhere our families can properly relax, spend quality time together and create memories in an environment built around accessibility from the very beginning.

Designed Around Real Needs

For many of the families we support, holidays can come with significant barriers. Finding accommodation that genuinely meets a child’s physical needs — while also being practical for carers and siblings — is often incredibly difficult. That’s why every part of the lodge has been carefully considered.

Features include:

  • Wheelchair accessibility Indoors & Out
  • A ceiling-track hoist system from wetroom, to bedroom, to living room
  • Wetroom with wall-mounted shower tray and toilet
  • Indoor & outdoor shed storage for specialist equipment & wheelchairs.
  • Thoughtful layouts designed around comfort, dignity and ease of use

Our design is more than creating a fun holiday expereince about recognising that children with disabilities and their families deserve the same opportunities to relax, explore and spend meaningful time together as anyone else.

More Than Just a Holiday Lodge

At Fostering Together, we’ve always believed that support should go beyond the basics - our value is doing the right thing. Alongside our regular community events, accessible activities and seasonal outings, this lodge represents another step in building a fostering community that genuinely works for the families within it.  We know how important it is for families to feel included, supported and able to access experiences without constantly worrying about practical barriers. The lodge is part of that wider vision.

Watch the Journey

The video below shares the full story of the project — from the early conversations and planning stages, through to the build itself and finally seeing the lodge in place for the first time with our team. It also includes reflections from staff and foster carers on why projects like this matter, and the difference accessible spaces can make to children and families.

We’re incredibly excited to finally share what we’ve been working on and can’t wait to see the memories our community will create there in the years ahead.

Located at Seal Bay Resort, Selsey 🌊

The lodge is based at the brilliant Seal Bay Resort in Selsey, giving families access to the seaside, entertainment and a welcoming holiday environment designed for making memories together. We’re especially proud to be working alongside a resort that shares our commitment to inclusion and accessibility. Seal Bay previously received one of our Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Awards, recognising the positive steps they’ve taken to support disabled children, young people and families visiting the resort.

Built in Partnership with Sunseeker Holiday Homes 🏡

A huge part of bringing this vision to life has been working alongside Sunseeker Holiday Homes, who supported us throughout the design and build process to help create a lodge tailored to the needs of our fostering community. From accessibility adaptations to practical layouts and specialist requirements, their team worked closely with us to make sure the final result truly reflected the needs of the children and families who will use it.

Sunseeker were also recognised with one of our Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Awards in appreciation of their support, collaboration and commitment throughout the project. Y
