The Fostering Together santa army take over the Rare Breeds Centre!

December 2023 at Fostering Together

Submitted by fosteringtogether on 18 December 2023

It's been a lovely busy month to end the year on a fantastic note this month - we've managed to cram in loads, all the while looking to welcome a number of new families and support workers over the season and first few months of 2024, as well as a number of children matched to their new foster families and moving in soon!

It's been great to see our community grow throughout the year, and our service spread to support new areas too!

So to summarise the month, first we welcomed kmfm and BargainHunter UK for the kind donation of toys, games and lovely gifts from the listener community of Kent for Give a Gift 2023! It was a fab haul that has been really appreciated by the foster families. We extend a huge thank you to all involved - we heard across Kent over 13,800 gifts were donated... WOW!

Next we had absolutely fab time with our Santa army at the Rare Breeds Centre of Woodchurch in Kent, celebrating with the families across the South East Region. It was a chilly day, but we had a lovely time seeing all of the rare domestic breeds of farmland animals including donkeys 🫏, pigs 🐷 and highland cows 🐄! It was fab to have been supported by the RevoLOO accessible mobile personal care vehicle which enabled our wheelchair users to really fully enjoy the day without worrying about facilities!

Meet the pigs.... OINK!

A huge Gingerbread man welcomed us to the Rare Breeds

We even had a little visit to the grotto to see Santa and his elves!

Following this, later in the week, we had a lovely meetup with the foster carers and support workers in the South East community for a lovely meal and presentation to cap off the year!

Next we met up with our East Anglia patch to have another meal with the foster carers and support workers in the area (we were feeling very full by this point!).

Greg can't avoid a photo too!

To round it off, another fab family day with the East Anglia patch, throwing a party at Mini Monsters. Our exclusive use of the venue meant we were able to to make full use of the sensory and accessible facilities and also the speakers which our very own young DJ E took advantage of!

DJ E and C took over the music for the day, taking part in Karaoke!

Foster carers and the children also met Santa for an early Christmas gift!

This month has been a fab one to celebrate an amazing year of Fostering in our community, and it's really been heartwarming to see the growth of our community! We're looking forward to 2024!
