Recognising those with Big Hearts - Lily (Creative Producer, Darrall Macqueen)
Fostering Together launched the Big Heart for Children with Disabilities initiative in 2024, seeking to say our collective 'thank you's to those wider teams around the children we have the privilege to support that have amazing impacts on their lives, be it through the health & medical inputs, therapeutic support and more.
This week we went up to London to visit the team at BAFTA-award winning TV Production company, Darrall Macqueen, and in particular Creative Producer Lily Brooks to present a well-deserved Big Heart for Children with Disabilities award!
Matt, Neil, Maddie accompanied Foster Carer Hannah and her young lady who had the privilege of being casted to appear in an episode of 'Waffle's After School Club' a spin-off of the Waffle the Wonder Dog show! Hannah nominated Lily because of how special she made her foster child feel throughout the day, making things accessible to her needs, spending time with her to explore the set; in Hannah's words "The whole team could not have done enough!"
We even brought a camera of our own to present to the team, and took the opportunity to chat to Hannah about how she got into fostering:
The Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award was a new initiative introduced by Fostering Together to celebrate amazing and under-appreciated people in the wider reaches of teams working with children and thank them for amazing impact they have for children who have disabilities, both those in foster care and not.
