Jen & Nigel sending thanks to Stuart

Recognising those with Big Hearts - Stuart (Oak Wood Primary School, Nuneaton)

Submitted by fosteringtogether on 4 July 2025

Fostering Together launched the Big Heart for Children with Disabilities initiative in 2024, seeking to say our collective 'thank you's to those wider teams around the children we have the privilege to support that have amazing impacts on their lives, be it through the health & medical inputs, therapeutic support and more.

Today we had the joy of surprising Stuart Day at Oak Wood Primary School with a Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award—presented during a special drop-in at assembly!

Surprise drop in at the end of term assembly!

Nominated by foster carers Jen & Nigel, Stuart was recognised for his incredible compassion, unwavering support, and the kindness he shows every single day.

They wanted to share:

"Stuart has always gone above and beyond to help us and C. He’s kind, approachable, and always makes time for us—even calling just to check in. He truly understands the challenges and is always there. We’re so appreciative.”

Staff at Oak Wood Primary joined the presentation

The Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award was a new initiative introduced by Fostering Together to celebrate amazing and under-appreciated people in the wider reaches of teams working with children and thank them for amazing impact they have for children who have disabilities, both those in foster care and not.
