Our Thank you to Staff at Royal Stoke University Hospital

Submitted by fosteringtogether on 30 June 2026

To mark National Children's Nurses Day 2026 on 30 June, we had the privilege of presenting a Big Heart for Children with Disabilities Award to the incredible Children's High Dependency Unit (CHDU) and Respiratory Team at Royal Stoke University Hospital. 💙🏆

Nominated by one of our fostering families, the team were recognised for the outstanding clinical care and reassurance they provide to children with complex medical needs and the people who care for them. 🩺💛

💙 Care that makes a real difference

Sarah, one of our foster carers, shared what the team's support has meant to her family:

“The team's warmth and humanity are a defining feature of our experience. They combine exceptional clinical care with kindness, humour and unwavering support, helping us through some of our most difficult times.”

Whether it's offering expert advice, taking the time to reassure families or making a child smile through small, everyday gestures, this team makes an enormous difference to the lives of the children and families they support. 🫶

For families caring for children with complex medical needs, having professionals who combine clinical expertise with genuine compassion can mean so much. We're delighted to recognise the team's dedication through this award.

🏆 A very well-deserved Big Heart Award

Congratulations to everyone in the CHDU and Respiratory Team at Royal Stoke University Hospital, and thank you for everything you do for children and their families, going above and beyond! 👏💙

We hope you had a wonderful National Children's Nurses Day!
